Total Health Systems

First Step? We'll Walk With You.

Learn about what to expect during your first visit to Total Health Systems and how we provide comprehensive chiropractic care tailored to your specific needs.

What Your First Chiropractic Visit Consists of:

1. Consultation

Your visit begins with a warm welcome and a quick introduction to the clinic. A Health Care Assistant will review your paperwork and learn more about your health history, including your symptoms, past injuries, lifestyle, and medications. This helps our chiropractors tailor your care and ensures you know if chiropractic treatment is the right path for you.

2. Examination

If you choose to move forward with the examination, a Health Care Assistant will take your vitals and guide you through a simple range of motion assessment to see how your body is moving. After that, you'll meet with a chiropractor for a full physical exam. This may include posture analysis, orthopedic and neurological tests, and a gentle check of your spine.

3. X-Ray

Following your initial exam, your chiropractor may recommend spinal X-rays. These images act like a blueprint, showing the structure and alignment of your spine in detail. This helps our doctors rule out hidden issues and create a care plan that's right for you.

4. Post-Examination Discussion

Your chiropractor will walk you through their findings, talk with you about your health goals, and create a personalized treatment plan to help you reach them. Depending on your needs, your plan may include adjustments along with support from other providers such as physical therapy, acupuncture, massage, or primary care.

Depending on the level of pain you're experiencing and other factors, your chiropractor may perform the first adjustment on the same day.
After your first adjustment, you'll start to experience reduced pain and improved mobility, but it's also not uncommon to experience temporary side effects like mild soreness, similar to how you might feel after beginning a new exercise routine. This soreness should fade within a day or two as your body adjusts to the new treatment.

Your Chiropractor will always let you know what to expect, provide tips to support your recovery at home, and help you feel confident as you move forward with your care plan.
